The sculptures in the courtyard of the Archaeological Museum of Aiani were created as part of the Sculpture Workshops and Symposia, held from 2008 to 2012. Artists, painters, and students collaborated to transform local marble, sourced from the regions of Tranovalto and Kozani, into unique works of art. Inspired by the museum’s antiquities and the cultural heritage of Aiani, these works highlight not only the beauty of marble but also its connection to ancient techniques and the art of painting, bridging the past with the present.
The symposia, organized with the support of the Archaeological Museum of Aiani and local authorities, offered visitors a unique experience, allowing them to witness firsthand the artistic creation process. Renowned sculptors, alongside young artists and students, worked together in a productive environment of artistic experimentation. The museum’s courtyard, now adorned with these works, serves as an open-air sculpture gallery, where the art of marble carving and painting is revived and given contemporary life. These sculptures act as a bridge between place, history, and modern artistic creation, inviting visitors to reflect on the timeless relationship between humanity, art, and nature.
