This educational program includes a thematic guided tour of the Archaeological Museum of Aiani, focusing on the excavation process and the journey of artifacts from being buried in the earth to being displayed in museum showcases. Students learn about: The excavation process (documentation, analysis, publication). Techniques of artifact preservation. Salvage and systematic excavations conducted in the Kozani Regional Unit. The program features an educational video that explains the excavation process and artifact transfer to the museum, helping students identify these items in the museum’s showcases. Following the video, students engage in a hands-on simulation in the museum’s outdoor educational area. They assume roles such as archaeologists, workers, and illustrators, using authentic excavation tools in specially designed trenches containing replicas of ancient objects. By the end of the program, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of how archaeological research is structured.
