The Archaeological Museum of Aiani was established to house and showcase the antiquities uncovered through excavations in the ancient city of Aiani and the royal necropolis.
Construction began in 1992 and was completed in 2010, with partial operation starting in 2002. It is a building complex of 4,500 sq.m., with an exhibition space of 1,000 sq.m.
The museum serves as the headquarters of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kozani and represents the culmination of the Archaeological Service’s work, which has been carried out in Aiani and throughout the Regional Unit of Kozani for over forty years. At the same time, a significant scientific project has been continuously conducted within its premises, including the conservation, study, and publication of the antiquities stored in its repositories, originating from excavations conducted by the Ephorate throughout the region.
